IMPACT - Increased Mastery and Professional Application of Coaching Theory

USA Volleyball currently has a minimum level coach education requirement in order to coach a USAV Junior Volleyball Program.  Please note that Regional Volleyball Associations may have a more stringent requirement to coach at this or any level.

Currently there are five acceptable methods for completion of this IMPACT certification requirement:

  1. Completion of a four-hour USAV IMPACT course at an on-site Regional Clinic will meet the prerequisite certification for coaching a USAV Junior Program.  Please follow this link to find your USAV Region and contact that office to find the scheduled IMPACT Clinics from your region.  Region prices may vary for IMPACT Clinics.
  2. Completion of a four-hour USAV IMPACT course at an on-site National CAP course or Clinic will meet the prerequisite certification for coaching a USAV Junior Program.  Please follow this link to find the Scheduled IMPACT Clinics in conjunction with CAP Courses or Clinics.  Prices may vary for on-site National Office IMPACT Clinics, but most often will be between $35 and $65 depending on registration deadlines.
  3. Completion of a four-hour USAV IMPACT course at an on-site National Qualifier/Bid Tournament will meet the prerequisite certification for coaching a USAV Junior Program.  Please follow this link to find the List of National Qualifiers/Bid Tournaments and contact that office to find the scheduled IMPACT Clinics for that Qualifier or Bid Tournament.  Prices may vary for on-site National Qualifier/Bid Tournament IMPACT Clinics.
  4. National IMPACT Clinic Webinars will meet the prerequisite certification for coaching a USAV Junior Program.  The IMPACT Online Webinar Schedule will provide a list of scheduled IMPACT Clinic Webinars.  The five-hour IMPACT Clinic Webinars are offered in either a one-day and two-day online format, scheduled typically twice a month (or more) from September thru June each year in order to provide ample opportunities for coaches to complete their certification.  The cost varies from least expensive at beginning of season, to higher cost at the end of the Junior Volleyball season (usually from $50-$100).  The five-hour online webinar is designed to supplement the need for IMPACT certification that the USAV Regions cannot cover, and saving coaches in remote areas travel time and cost. This format requires completion of an online test with a 90% or better passing grade to complete the certification.
  5. With proper documentation submitted to the National Office, the following training programs plus purchase of the most recent IMPACT Manual from the National Office with online test completion, will also meet the USAV IMPACT requirement to coach USAV Junior Club Programs:

In order to obtain IMPACT Certification via this method, Coaches must complete the following steps:

  1.
    • Submit proper verification documents for their coursework, certification or degree
    • Receive confirmation from the National Office of eligibility for this method of IMPACT certification, based on such documentation
    • Order the IMPACT Manual from the National Office and show verification of order
    • Coach will receive links to view the IMPACT Manual
    • USAV-CAP Staff will set up the testing site for the coach, and provide proper links and information for test completion
    • Complete the IMPACT Test within a two-week window with 90% or better, and inform the USAV-CAP Staff upon receiving a passing score
    • The USAV-CAP Staff will update the coach’s record in the Webpoint National Database, and email the IMPACT Certificate to the coach
    • The Coach must insure that a copy is then forwarded to their Club Director and Region Office
