IMPACT INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS

The requirements for becoming an IMPACT Instructor are:

1) the candidate must be currently CAP Level II or higher (and must maintain their CAP certification to maintain their Instructor status once certified), and

2) the candidate must obtain a written recommendation for the IMPACT Instructor Training from their home Region (member in good standing, current BGS, and engaging speaker/presenter skills), which is forwarded to me for evaluation, and

3) if accepted for training, the candidate will undergo 6-8 hours of IMPACT Instructor Training (which includes listening in on an IMPACT Clinic taught by a Master Instructor, plus pre and post instructor level discussion/instruction) from the National Office-Coaching Education/Master Instructor (which can take place all on-line, all in-person or a combination of the two).

4) Once training is complete, the candidate will receive an IMPACT Instructor Certificate, good for an initial 4 year period; once CAP II (or III ) recertification has taken place, the Instructor status will roll-over for another 4 years, on the same CAP re-certification schedule – for as long as:

                a) the Instructor maintains a current CAP II or higher certification (which includes a current BGS)

                b) the Instructor remains a USAV member in good standing with the Region and USA Volleyball

c) the Instructor remains someone that the Region accepts/sanctions as one of their Instructors

The requirements for remaining an IMPACT Instructor are:

1) the Instructor maintains a current CAP II or higher certification (which includes a current BGS)

a) IMPACT Instructors are able to submit documentation for up to 3 IMPACT Clinics taught in a 4 year certification period to receive CAP Module Credits toward their next CAP re-certification;

b) for a CAP II it requires 5 total credits and for CAP III it requires 6 total credits to re-certify via this method;

c) IMPACT Instructors are able to earn a 4th and or 5th Module Credit for attending a live IMPACT Refresher Class Webinar in the fall after the new materials (PowerPoint, Manual, Certificates and other supporting materials) are released to the RVA’s for distribution to Instructors.  Instructors are also able to access all materials on the USA Volleyball website on the Instructor-Only user group page (as are the RVA Staff in charge of IMPACT in that Region);  this requires a user account on USAVolleyball.org, and then being assigned to that user group by one of my staff.

2) the Instructor remains a USAV member in good standing with the Region and USA Volleyball (i.e. must be a current member, have a current USAV BGS, have signed the Jr Personnel Code of Conduct).

3) the Instructor remains someone that the Region accepts/sanctions as one of their Instructors – IMPACT Instructors must be “hired” to conduct IMPACT Clinics either by their own Region, the National Office or perhaps another Region. RVA’s are encouraged to use observation & the “evaluation” tools to evaluate the performance and presentation skills of their Instructors – even though an instructor has been trained and maintains their certification status, if the RVA is unhappy with their presentation/teaching skills/effectiveness, the RVA has the right to require them to re-train or to not sanction/hire them as an Instructor in their Region. We check in yearly with the RVA’s to see if they would like to change the status of any of their instructors, and update them in our list.

4) IMPACT Instructors must teach only sanctioned IMPACT Clinics and may not arrange or teach independent IMPACT Clinics without approval of the Region – they work for YOU.  Instructors must teach the MINIMUM 4 hour in-classroom IMPACT Clinic, using the current year Manual, PPT  & other supporting materials provided each year by the National Office.  Any Region may also provide/schedule/teach for more than the required 4 hours and may incorporate in-the-gym sessions beyond the 4 hour in-classroom curriculum (referred to as an IMPACT Plus Clinic – which we also have a curriculum/Manual for & can tailor to a Region’s needs).

5) All USAV CAP Cadre are also eligible to teach IMPACT for any Region.

Cost for IMPACT Instructor Training:

1) for a single candidate from an RVA training cost is $150 per person.

2) for 2 candidates from a single RVA, cost is $125 per person.

3) for 3 or more candidates from a single RVA, cost is $100 per person.

This cost is in addition to the $250 honoraria for a Master Instructor for an on-site Training.  This method is usually more appropriate if there is a live IMPACT Clinic to be presented/taught, for example in conjunction with a CAP Course, or as a regularly scheduled regional IMPACT Clinic .

For on-line-training, the candidates will attend an on-line live Webinar presentation of the IMPACT Clinic, plus the 2-4 hours of instructor level discussion/instruction in a pre-IMPACT Web meeting plus a post IMPACT web meeting, scheduled either the same date as the IMPACT Webinar or on alternate days – whichever best fits the master Instructor & Candidates’ schedules.  The total cost for the online training is only the $150 as above (or the discounted amounts for multiple candidates).
