Online registration for tryouts closes at 6:00 am Mountain Time THREE DAYS PRIOR to the day of the tryout. IF IT IS AFTER THE DEADLINE, YOU WILL SIMPLY BECOME A "WALK UP REGISTRATION." All athletes will be afforded the opportunity to try out - tryouts to not fill or have waitlists. Please see chart below for details.
Tryout Registration Step-by-Step Instructions
USA Volleyball High Performance Tryouts are the direct entry into the HP Athlete Pipeline. Athletes interested in participating in any USAV HP Program in a given year must attend a tryout that year. Players try out by age group and position (Outside Hitter, Middle Blocker, Setter, or Libero) and are then evaluated by USAV HP Coaches on all skills pertinent to that position, athleticism, and future potential. The evaluations from every tryout in the country then come back to USAV’s National Office, where athletes are invited to programs based on their tryout evaluation. In 2011, approximately 3,150 girls and 1,025 boys attended USAV HP Tryouts at one of the almost 50 tryouts across the country.

Registration
Players wishing to try out need to register online by the deadline by clicking the appropriate link for the tryout in which he or she is interested, following all the registration prompts, and paying the $65 tryout fee online with a credit card. Online registration for tryouts closes at 6:00am Mountain Time three days prior to the day of the tryout. See below:

Players who miss the registration deadline become “Walk-Up” registrations and will submit registration paperwork and fees at the tryout. The walk-up registration fee is $100.
What to Bring
Tryout attendees must bring the following completed to the tryout:

USA Volleyball Membership
All athletes trying out for USAV HP must be USA Volleyball members and provide proof of membership or are required to pay a $5 One-Time Event Membership fee in addition to their registration fee. This fee covers mandatory insurance for the duration of the tryout. Athletes are required to submit their USA Volleyball membership number during registration for proof of membership. If you do not know your number, please contact your volleyball club or contact the region in which you play - USA Volleyball cannot provide you with your membership number.
What If I Play More Than One Position?
Sometimes, volleyball players play more than one position for their school and/or club team. We recommend that you try out for the position in which you are most successful. You must choose one position for a tryout as our evaluators are looking at skills specific to each position while evaluating. Athletes may not try out in more than one position at a given tryout. If you try out in one position and decide that you would like to also try out in another position in a given tryout season, you will need to register, pay the registration fee, and attend another tryout in that position. Please know that in almost ALL cases when players try out in two positions at two tryouts, the evaluation at each tryout places the athlete in the same program. Players who try out for more than one position will receive an invitation for the position for which he or she is ranked the highest if there is a difference. Athletes will be invited to programs by position and may not switch to another position for the program, so please choose carefully!
Transfers and Refunds
If necessary, USAV will transfer your registration to another tryout at no cost, should you be unable to attend the tryout for which you registered. Please just e-mail the athlete’s name and birth date, the tryout for which he or she is currently registered, and the tryout to which he or she would like to transfer to indoorhp@usav.org.
Refunds will be given for withdrawing from a tryout, less $20 for administrative cost. Please send an e-mail to indoorhp@usav.org with the athlete's name, birth date and the tryout for which they are registered.

(College-age athletes and older, AND high school athletes born in 1993 or earlier)
