Beach Update: Action Packed Week Sees Medals Earned, Legends Retire

The U.S. won three medals in two different international beach volleyball events last week, and two beach volleyball icons said goodbye at the AVP League Final.  This week, U.S. athletes are the BPT Challenge Haikou.

Long Beach State is back on top in this week’s college roundup. The Beach retakes the top place after unseating No. 1 Hawaii with a 3-2 win last Saturday at Walter Pyramid. Long Beach Received 23 first place votes in the latest AVCA poll.

Major changes hit the men's volleyball college roundup as we finish off the second full week of March. Down goes former No. 1 GCU, who had its undefeated streak snapped with two ranked losses in the Outrigger Invitational. This result moves the Rainbow Warriors up to the No. 1 slot in this week’s rankings.

Men’s College Roundup for March 8, 2024

No change to the roundup this week as the top-5 stays the same across both divisions. Grand Canyon is on top for another week in DI/II, earning 21 AVCA votes to remain No. 1. In DIII, Wentworth earned 20 votes to stay ahead of Stevens and Southern Virginia.

Men’s College Roundup for March 1

Welcome to March and the first roundup of the new month where we fittingly also have a new No. 1. The 13-0 GCU Lopes are atop the rankings, unseating Long Beach State who held the title since the beginning of February. DIII has a shift as well at the bottom of the list. Loras flip-flops with Cal Lutheran, bumping them out of the top-5 to start the month.

Men’s College Roundup for Feb. 23

This week, the roundup welcomes back a familiar name to the top-5 in DI/II. UC Irvine jumps two spots from their previous ranking to take the No. 5 position away from Stanford. In DIII, it’s the third straight week that the list has remained stagnant, meaning it’s still Wentworth leading the pack over Stevens, Southern Virginia, Springfield, and Cal Lutheran. Men’s College Roundup for Feb. 16

For the first time in 2024, the roundup sees no changes from the previous week. Despite suffering its first loss of the season, Long Beach State earns 17 votes by AVCA to stay at No. 1 ahead of undefeated Grand Canyon. Meanwhile in DIII, Wentworth has secured 12 wins to start the year and holds a firm grip on the top spot. The roundup stays relatively calm at the top end of the DI/II rankings this week. The top-five sees one shift as UCLA and Stanford trade places. The roundup does have the potential for more shuffling next week after the top-5 matchup of No. 1 Long Beach State vs. No. 5 UCLA on Friday.

For the third straight week, the college roundup has a new No. 1. Long Beach State earns 23 votes in the latest AVCA poll and is now top of the pack as one of the few remaining unbeaten teams in DI/II. Men’s College Roundup for Jan. 26

A huge shift hits the roundup this week after Ohio State stuns UCLA. The Buckeyes defeated the defending champion Bruins and No. 13 USC at the First Point Challenge in Austin, Texas last week to vault into the number one spot in the rankings. However, The Buckeyes suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of No. 9 Penn State on Thursday night.

A big shakeup hits the DI/II and DIII rankings in the college roundup. Hawaii and Ohio State move up as UC Irvine is bounced to No. 6 and Grand Canyon makes its first appearance in the top-5. In DIII, two new schools crack the top-5, including Wentworth storming onto the scene to take ahold of the No. 2 spot. Men’s College Roundup for April 24

League championships are now in the rearview mirror across all divisions as the top teams in NCAA men’s volleyball now shift their full attention toward the tournament. The NCAA DI/II bracket has been announced, with all matches hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va. The Division III Championship is in the semifinal round and currently being hosted by Stevenson University in Owings Mills, Md.

Men’s College Roundup for April 20

It’s officially the postseason for all teams in the college roundup. With the first edition since the conclusion of the regular season, the DI/II division stays intact with Hawaii leading the charge and UC Irvine at No. 5. In the DIII division, Vassar still holds possession of the number No. 1 slot in the rankings and only has one loss on the season.
