COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 20, 2024) – There are several beach events on the calendar over the next few weeks, including the Beach U19 World Championships and World University Championships. The Beach Pro Tour also resumes with a slate of post-Olympic events.

Manhattan Beach Open

Two U.S. National Team pairs will put their names on the pier after the 2024 Manhattan Beach Open concluded this past weekend. The final for both the men and women pitted national team pairs against each other. 

Paris Olympic duo Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss were victorious in the women’s bracket. In their first tournament back from the Games, Kloth/Nuss defeated Betsi Flint and Julia Scoles 2-1 (18-21, 21-17, 15-9).

In the men’s bracket, Trevor Crabb and Theo Brunner defeated Olympians Miles Partain/Andy Benesh 2-0 (21-18, 21-18). It’s the fourth Open win in five years for Crabb and the first for Brunner.

The winners of the Open officially secured spots in the inaugural AVP League, which is set to begin in September after the Chicago Open.

Elite 16 Hamburg

BPT Elite 16 Hamburg takes place Aug. 21-25 in Germany.

Julia Scoles/Betsi Flint, Savvy Simo/Abby Van Winkle, Kim Hildreth/Teegan Van Gunst, Kelly Kool/Tiffany Svenssohn, and Carly Kan/Meghan Gebhard will represent the U.S. women.

Evan Cory/Cody Caldwell and Logan Webber/Hagen Smith will represent the U.S. men.

Elite 16 Hamburg is the first Elite 16 after the Paris Olympics and one of three currently on the FIVB calendar before the BPT Final in December.

Futures Halifax and Brno

BPT Futures Halifax runs from Aug. 21-25 and will feature several newer U.S. pairs.

For the women, Piper Ferch/Lindsey Sparks, Maddie Anderson/Brooke Bauer, Ella Gray/Sienna Becker, Xolani Hodel/Jade Race and Carly Kan/Devanne Sours are all set to compete.

For the men, Leigh Sinoto/Cody Price, Adam Roberts/Nate Miller, Garrett Peterson/Caleb Kwekel, Zephyr Dew/Derek Bradford, Alex Ukkelberg/Dave Wieczorek, and Jake Urrutia/Avery Drost are the pairs set to compete.

BPT Futures Brno in the Czech Republic runs parallel to Halifax from Aug. 22-25. Ryan Rapini/Samuel Massari are the lone U.S. pair set to compete in the men’s tournament.

2024 Beach U19 World Championships

The 2024 FIVB Beach Volleyball U19 World Championships will be held from Aug. 27 to Sept. 1 in Shangluo, China.

Sally Perez/Sarah Wood and Myriah Massey/Lily Dee Davis will compete for the the U.S. women, while Grant Lamoureaux/Blake Goodwin and Caleb Blanchette/Malachi Brewington will compete for the the U.S. men.

2024 World University Championships
The 2024 World University Championships run Sept. 2-8 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Forty countries are expected to be represented as beach volleyball joins beach soccer, beach handball, beach wrestling, beach tennis and surfing on the event schedule.

Taylor Wilson (Stanford)/Natalie Myszkowski (UCLA), Maddie Anderson (FSU)/Michelle Schafer (LMU), and Xolani Hodel (Stanford)/Alexis Durish (FSU) will represent the U.S. women.

John Schwengel/Patrick Rogers (Ball State), Thomas Hurst/Gage Basey (Colorado) and Nato Dickinson (LBSU)/Jackson Herbert (George Mason) will represent the U.S. men.
