COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 9, 2019) – The U.S. women’s beach team of Lara Dykstra and Cassie House took gold at the FIVB World Tour one-star event for women only in Battambang, Cambodia.
In the gold medal match on Sunday, the U.S. team defeated Greece’s Konstantina Tsopoulou/Dimitra Manavi, 21-19, 21-14.
The United States’ Nicole Nourse/Audrey Nourse also qualified for the main draw. They finished tied for 13th.
Dykstra/House had to win one qualifying match for the main draw, where they were seeded 13th. They went 2-0 in pool play to advance straight to the quarterfinals where they beat Anika Krebs/Leonie Welsch of Germany, 21-19, 21-15.
In the semifinals, Dykstra/House beat Satono Ishitsubo/Asami Shiba, 21-18, 21-14.
Dykstra won a gold medal at the 2018 FIVB one-star event in Vaduz, Liechtenstein with Allie Wheeler.
Dykstra/House are scheduled to play next at the FIVB one-star on April 11-14 in Langkawi, Malaysia.
TRAINING AND DELIVERY SEMINAR
Beach National Team coaches took part in a training and delivery seminar on April 6-7 at the USAV Beach Office in Torrance, Calif.
The seminar included talks on training organization, performing under pressure and being a professional beach volleyball coach.
