Great news for the growth of men’s volleyball in the U.S.!
The NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee agreed in principle to the expansion of the National Collegiate Men’s Volleyball Championship from seven teams to 12. Funding for the added teams will be considered next year as part of the NCAA DI budget process and, if approved, the expansion will take place in 2024.
The number of schools sponsoring men’s volleyball has increased from 48 to 62 in six years. Six of those new teams are in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and were part of a funding initiative between First Point Volleyball and USA Volleyball.
