COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 29, 2021) – USA Volleyball’s Beach High Performance Championship is headed southeast in 2021 to the sunny beaches of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. It will include training with top coaches on July 26-28 and competition on July 29-31.
The 2021 Beach High Performance Championship will be the first event of the USAV Beach National Team Development Program (NTDP) Training Series. Training Series events will give selected players the opportunity to train with and compete against the best players in the country.
Players from around the country, region high performance teams and international teams have competed in past Beach HP Championships.
Among the players who have competed at the Beach HP Championship and gone on to play internationally for USA Volleyball are Audrey and Nicole Nourse, who have competed on the FIVB World Tour. Devon Newberry and Lindsey Sparks and also Tim Brewster and John Schwengel all played in the Youth Olympic Games after competing at the HP Championship.
“The Beach HP Championship is a unique opportunity for teams to compete against top USAV regions, international opponents, and NTDP teams,” said Erin Virtue, director of the NTDP. “Development opportunities are heighted when iron sharpens iron and the best train with the best. We are looking forward to bringing this high-level event to Fort Lauderdale this summer.
Girls in the under-15 to U19 divisions and boys in the U16 to U19 divisions will be identified for the Beach HP Championship via USA Volleyball’s NTDP Scouting. Selected athletes will be invited beginning in May.
The Beach HP Championship will include training with top beach coaches including Olympian Stein Metzger of UCLA, Russell Brock of LSU, Brad Keenan of Arizona State and Andrew Fuller of Stanford.
