COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Amanda Dowdy and Irene Pollock have tied for ninth on the FIVB World Tour in China for the second time, in as many weeks.
Dowdy and Pollock remained in China for the Nantong 2 Star tournament, after having tied for ninth last week in Nanjing. The duo now have two Top 10 finishes on the World Tour this year.
Dowdy and Pollock were the lone U.S. team at the women’s only 2 Star event. In the main draw, the pair earned a victory against Thailand in the opening 24-team first round, 28-26, 21-17. On Saturday, the duo were eliminated by Canada’s Megan Nagy/Marie-Christine Lapointe, 21-18, 10-21, 15-11.
The pair earned a main draw wild card, and were seeded at 17th. Last week’s performance was their first FIVB tournament together, giving their partnership two Top 10 international finishes in two appearances.
