COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (March 29, 2022) – The first Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Futures event takes place this week, March 30-April 3, in Coolangatta, Australia.

U.S. Beach National Team newcomers Taryn Kloth/Kristen Nuss will make their international debuts in Coolangatta. The duo, fresh off an undefeated 2021 season at Louisiana State University, play Christie Jenkins/Rebecca Ingram of Australia in the first round of the qualifier on Tuesday, March 29 at 3:30 p.m. Pacific.

The winner of Kloth/Nuss vs. Jenkins/Ingram will play Americans Katie Horton/Jade Race for a spot in the main draw, which begins Thursday, March 31 in Australia and the afternoon of Wednesday, March 30 on the U.S. west coast.

Zana Muno/Toni Rodriguez start the tournament in the main draw.

On the men’s side, Tim Brewster/Travis Mewhirter and Cody Caldwell/Adam Roberts also will compete in the qualifier. Brewster/Mewhirter will begin in the qualifier’s second round, while Caldwell/Roberts play Aussies Ben Hood/Toby Bergh in the first. That match begins at 6:10 p.m. Pacific Tuesday.

Futures tournaments are the lowest of three levels on the Beach Pro Tour. Sixteen teams will compete in the main draw, which uses modified pool play followed by a single elimination bracket. Champions of Futures events win 200 points towards qualification for other Beach Pro Tour events.

Coolangatta Main draw matches will be broadcast live on Beach Volleyball World’s YouTube channel.
