At USA Volleyball, we remain committed to transparency, open communication, and building a stronger, more unified future for our sport. As the national governing body, it is our responsibility to ensure that all regions operate in alignment with our nonprofit mission and core values.

On July 11, 2025, the USA Volleyball Board of Directors convened to review the Notices of Motion for Expulsion, dated June 10, 2025, concerning both the Alaska Region and Southern California Volleyball Association (“SCVA”).

Alaska Region
The USAV Board elected not to expel the Alaska Region but formally notified its leadership that specific governance and operational reforms are required as a condition for reinstatement to good standing. With respect to such reforms, the current commissioner of the Alaska Region has been suspended, and the Alaska Region will hold an election for new leadership within 90 days.

SCVA
The hearing on the motion to expel the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) has been postponed until Friday, July 18, 2025, when the USAV Board reconvenes.

In anticipation of the need within the Southern California and Southern Nevada region, the USAV Board has approved the creation of a new nonprofit entity within USA Volleyball to serve Southern California and Southern Nevada. This new entity will be overseen by a standalone board of directors elected by the USAV Board. Day-to-day operations will be managed by a dedicated USA Volleyball staff.

These actions reflect our commitment to ensuring that volleyball across the country remains accessible, inclusive, and well-governed—both on and off the court. Please note: the ability to register, play, travel, and compete under USA Volleyball remains unchanged.

Further updates on the status of each region will be shared as available.
