COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 29, 2026) – Many of the world’s top sitting teams will be in Orlando May 22-24 as USA Volleyball hosts the first-ever USAV Sitting Cup alongside the 2026 Adult Open National Championship at the Orange County Convention Center.
This is the second consecutive year USA Volleyball has hosted a high-level international sitting event alongside Adult Opens. In 2025, the U.S. hosted the ParaVolley Pan Am Zonal Championships in Denver, where Brazil captured gold in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
“Hosting an international sitting volleyball event alongside the USA Volleyball Adult Open National Championship for a second straight year shows how committed USA Volleyball is to growing the sport and creating meaningful competitive opportunities for our athletes,” said Bill Hamiter, director of the U.S. sitting teams and head coach for the women. “The inaugural Sitting Cup gives our athletes the chance to face top teams from around the world while giving fans a close-up look at elite, Paralympic-level competition.”
Once again, the event features a stacked lineup of global contenders. The U.S. Women are the No. 1 team in the world, and they’ll face No. 2 Canada, No. 3 Brazil and No. 11 Japan. On the men’s side, world No. 6 United States, No. 7 Germany and No. 8 Canada will be joined by Brazil’s Club Athletico Paulistano to battle for the cup.
The first two days of competition will consist of pool play, with the final day featuring a bronze-medal match between the third- and fourth-place teams in pool, and a gold-medal match between the first- and second-place teams. Admission is free, giving fans an up-close look at some of the best sitting volleyball athletes on the planet. The event will be livestreamed through BallerTV and on the USA Volleyball website.
The USAV Sitting Cup marks the first major international tournament of 2026 for the participating teams and serves as a key early-season measuring stick ahead of the 2026 World ParaVolley World Championship, set for July 10-17 in Hangzhou, China. Expect physical, fast-paced volleyball as programs fine-tune their rosters, systems and chemistry for the road to worlds.
U.S. rosters will be announced in May.
