Beach National Team Athletic Performance Coach
Brendan Baker joined USA Volleyball as the Beach National Team’s assistant athletic performancecoach in April 2026.
Prior to joining USA Volleyball, Baker served as a strength and conditioning fellow at the University of Michigan from 2024-2026, where he worked with a variety of Olympic sports programs.
Under the direction of Mike Favre, Baker provided direct support with indoor volleyball. Before Michigan, he was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Wayne State University from 2022-2024. In that role, he directly oversaw the training and development of men’s and women’s tennis, cross country, track and field sprinters and jumpers, and swim & dive, while also assisting with football.
Baker earned a master’s degree in sports administration n from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Adrian College, where he was also a student-athlete on the track and field team.
He holds certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), USA Weightlifting Level 1, and United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as a certified strength and conditioning coach.
