Beach National Team IC Coach
Jason Lochhead is a U.S. Beach National Team independent contractor coach currently working with Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena.
Lochhead a former professional beach player for New Zealand, has worked with Dalhausser and Lucena since 2017. He’s also currently the director of coaching for AVP Academy, building the organization’s lesson library.
As a player, he teamed with Kirk Pitman from 2004-12. His best year was 2008, where he earned a bronze and a fourth-place finish. He also had multiple wins on the New Zealand Tour and Asian Tour.
He coached the Vanuatu women’s beach team from 2014-16, raising their ranking from 65th in the world in 2014 to 17th in the 2016 Olympic rankings. During this time, he also coached Canada’s Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk, helping them to a ninth-place finish in the 2016 Olympics.
In 2018, he was the player development coach for the Florida State women’s volleyball team; and was the assistant coach in 2019.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 2020.
