Men's Beach National Team Assistant Coach

Reinder Nummerdor joined the U.S. Men’s Beach National Team as an assistant coach in July 2026. He works with head coach Matt Fuerbringer and assistant coach Casey Patterson in leading the program’s top athletes through the 2026 season and building a world-class national team pipeline aimed at the LA 2028 Olympic Games.

Nummerdor brings an extraordinary competitive and coaching resume to the U.S. Beach National Team. A five-time Olympic athlete and a two-time Olympic coach, Nummerdor’s career spans seven consecutive Olympic Games. Over a 20-year international playing career, he served as team captain for the Dutch Indoor National Team from 2000 to 2004, played in two Olympic Games and competed eight seasons in Italy’s prestigious Serie A1 league.

Transitioning to the sand, he captured 12 FIVB World Tour gold medals, won three European Championship titles, and earned a silver medal at the 2015 World Championships. He represented the Netherlands in the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Games, with a top placement of fourth in 2012. He was fifth in both 2009 and 2016.

Most recently, he spent seven years as a high performance beach volleyball coach for the Dutch Volleyball Federation (2018–2025).

“I am thrilled to join USA Volleyball and contribute to the growth and success of the Men’s Beach National Team,” Nummerdor said. “Working alongside Matt (Fuerbringer) and Casey (Patterson) presents an incredible opportunity to build a dominant, high-performance training environment. USA Volleyball has a rich tradition on the beach, and I am eager to collaborate with our world-class athletes to help them reach peak performance on the international stage.”

“I am excited to welcome Reinder to our staff,” Fuerbringer said. “I’ve known him since we competed against each other on the FIVB World Tour, and I’ve always respected his work ethic, preparation and understanding of the game. Reinder has been part of seven consecutive Olympic Games, first as a player and now as a coach, which speaks to the level of respect he’s earned and the sustained excellence he’s demonstrated throughout his career. He’s gone on to become one of the top coaches in international beach volleyball, and his experience helping build the Dutch National Team’s centralized training system makes him an incredible addition to our program. As we continue building a unified national team here in the U.S., I’ll rely heavily on his experience and leadership. More than anything, Reinder is a great person and a great coach, and I know he’ll have a tremendous impact on our athletes and our program. I can’t wait to get to work with him.”
