The U.S. won three medals in two different international beach volleyball events last week, and two beach volleyball icons said goodbye at the AVP League Final.  This week, U.S. athletes are the BPT Challenge Haikou.

The FIVB 39th World Congress in Porto, Portugal, last weekend brought together more than 200 volleyball leaders from across the globe to embark on a new chapter in the sport’s development. Fabio Azevedo was elected as the new president, and Hugh McCutcheon was named secretary general.

In this week’s beach update, we recap how the U.S. came away with two medals from BPT Challenge Haikou after starting in the qualification rounds. Plus, we look ahead to BPT Challenge Chennai this week in India, with only two weeks to go until the last pro tour events of the year.

Volleyball fans will have the opportunity to follow the next generation of professional volleyball talent as the 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation Draft takes place Monday, Nov. 25, at noon ET. The draft will be broadcast live, offering viewers a front-row seat to the selections of eligible college athletes.

USA Volleyball is strengthening its relationship with NCAA beach volleyball by changing its format at the 2025 NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship. USA Volleyball and the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) announce that the U.S. Beach Club Championship will be held in Huntington Beach, California, May 2-4, 2025.   

USA Volleyball is pleased to announce the hiring of accomplished sports and entertainment executive Jaime Weston as Chief Commercial Officer. At USA Volleyball, Weston will lead the commercial and brand strategy of the organization as it heads into the LA 2028 Olympic Games.

USA Volleyball is saddened to learn of the passing of longtime volleyball coach Matt McShane. Along with a stellar collegiate coaching career, McShane coached with numerous USA volleyball national teams.

The world’s premier volleyball competition is returning to the United States in 2025 as two cities will host preliminary rounds of the Volleyball Nations League. Chicago, Illinois, and Arlington, Texas, will both host stops on the 2025 VNL.

USA Volleyball is proud to announce its collaboration with Body Confident Sport and Laureus USA to help girls build body confidence and foster an inclusive, supportive environment in sports. The partnership aims to ensure that girls not only feel they belong in sports but also thrive in an atmosphere that encourages self-esteem and resilience.

Many of USA Volleyball’s rising stars will be training in Louisville, Kentucky, next week at the same time the city hosts the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship and the American Volleyball Coaches Association Convention.
