COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 17, 2019) — The USA Volleyball women’s beach team of Falyn Fonoimoana/Corinne Quiggle won its second straight gold medal on Sunday at the NORCECA Tour event in Jamaica.
The men’s team of Paul Lotman/Miles Partain won its first ever medal as a team, taking the gold in Jamaica, while Chaim Schalk/Jeremy Casebeer won bronze.
In the women’s final, Fonoimoana/Quiggle, battled past Cubans Lidiannis Echeverria/Yanisleidis Sanchez 27-25, 15-21, 15-13 in a rematch of the final on Nov. 3 in Hato Mayo, which the U.S. team also won.
It was Fonoimoana’s fifth medal of the tour this season. She won silver medals in Mexico and Cayman Islands and a bronze in Cuba, all with previous partner Nicolette Martin. Quiggle won a silver this season with Amanda Dowdy in Mexico.
The men’s final saw 17-year-old Miles Partain and 2012 indoor volleyball Olympian Paul Lotman defeat Nicaragua’s Ruben Mora and Denis Jose Luis, 16-21, 21-15, 15-13.
In the semifinals, Lotman/Partain beat their U.S. teammates Schalk/Casebeer 21-15, 15-21, 15-12. Schalk/Casebeer went on to win the bronze medal with a 21-13. 21-14 victory over Canada’s Liam Kopp/Jake MacNeil.
