COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 23, 2019) – Misty May-Treanor will be inducted into the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame at an awards dinner Friday, Nov. 1, at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
The USOPC Hall of Fame class of 2019 is comprised of nine individuals, one team, two legends, one coach and one special contributor, and together, represents 12 different sports.
May-Treanor competed in beach volleyball at four Olympic Games (2000, ’04, ’08, ‘12). May-Treanor and then-partner Kerri Walsh Jennings are the only people to win three gold medals in the discipline (2004, ’08, ’12).
May-Treanor was named Most Outstanding Player at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. She and Waslh Jennings were three-time FIVB world champion.
May-Treanor finished her international career in 2012 with a then-record 112 wins. She was enshrined in the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2016.
The 13 inductees were determined by a voting process that includes Olympians and Paralympians, members of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic family, and an online vote open to fans. The U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Hall of Fame was one of the first national sports halls of fame to include fan voting as part of its selection process, and this year, nearly 200,000 votes were cast at TeamUSA.org/vote.
