COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 27, 2024) – USA Volleyball is strengthening its relationship with NCAA beach volleyball by changing its format at the 2025 NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship. USA Volleyball and the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) announce that the U.S. Beach Club Championship will be held in Huntington Beach, California, May 1-4, 2025.

The U.S. Beach Club Championship, now in its third year, is a joint venture between USA Volleyball and AVP. Usually held in July, the event will take place next year alongside the 2025 NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship, which will be held at the Huntington Beach Pier for the first time in its history.

“The team format is what makes NCAA Beach Volleyball so unique. Shifting our U.S. Beach Club Championship to be played alongside the 2025 NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship is a natural fit.” USA Volleyball President and CEO John Speraw said. “This is a great opportunity for USA Volleyball to showcase some top junior beach athletes at the same time the best women’s college beach players will be competing for a national title.”

The U.S. Beach Club Championship is an innovative tournament that adds competition between clubs at different levels of play. The format mimics collegiate style competition. Athletes in each gender compete in their age groups (14s, 16s and 18s), and top finishers in each bracket earn points for their clubs. The girls and boys clubs with the highest point counts at the end of the tournament are crowned winners of the U.S. Club Cup.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with USA Volleyball on the U.S. Beach Club Championship, an event we’ve proudly supported and helped develop over the past three years,” said Al Lau, AVP head of strategy. “Our goal each year is to raise the bar for competition and showcase the best beach volleyball talent from across the nation. In 2025, we’re dedicated to making the championship even more impactful, delivering an unforgettable experience for athletes, coaches and fans alike. Together, AVP and USAV are shaping the future of beach volleyball at every level.”

No qualification is necessary to participate. There will be two divisions for girls age groups (Open and National) and one for boys (Open). Girls Open division squads at the 16U and 18U levels will compete in 5v5 competition. All other divisions will be 3v3 (Girls 14U, 16U, 18U National, 14U Open; Boys 14U, 16U and 18U Open)

Registration is open now and clubs are limited to two squads per age group. Girls Open divisions will play all four days. All other divisions will play May 2-4.
