COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 3, 2018) – Dave Gentile and Dave Peixoto have been elected to four-year terms on the USA Volleyball Board of Directors, representing the Junior Assembly and the Regional Volleyball Association Assemblies, respectively, through June 30, 2022.
Dave Gentile
Gentile, who previously served on the USA Volleyball Board of Directors from 2005 to 2012, founded Mid-America Volleyball (MAVS) in November 1993 and served as executive director of the youth volleyball club through September 2012. He started the club with one team and grew the program to 28 teams with year-round programming for youth development to become the largest and one of the most successful volleyball clubs in the Kansas City Region. Gentile has also played a key role as the business advisor, consultant and coach for MAVS the past four years.
“I couldn’t be more honored than to be able to rejoin the USAV Board of Directors as well as working with the Junior Assembly on key initiatives impacting juniors across the country,” Gentile said. “The Board has a great team of individuals who are committed to ‘growing the game’ and ensuring the national teams and all of its constituents are achieving the highest level of play and results. I am looking forward to supporting the Board’s efforts.”
Gentile has participated on the Heart of America Region board of directors. He was elected as vice president of USA Volleyball’s Juniors Division in 2005 and served in that position through 2012. Gentile returned to the same role in 2018.
Gentile retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City as its president and chief executive officer in September 2014 after starting with the company in 1979. After serving three years at Healthscape Advisors LLC as senior advisor and director of its Thought Leadership Center, he has served as managing partner of LifeCare Strategic Services LLC since October 2017.

Peixoto has been a member of the New England Region Volleyball Association (NERVA) since taking up volleyball in 1981. He founded Coastal Volleyball Club in 1989 and became a member of the NERVA Juniors Board of Directors. Prior to becoming the NERVA commissioner in 2011, Peixoto has served the region’s Juniors Board as scheduler, treasurer and girls’ division coordinator.
