COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 6, 2019) – Brooke Sweat and Kerri Walsh Jennings earned Best of May honors for the Team USA Awards presented by Dow, the United States Olympic Committee announced Wednesday.
Sweat (right in photo above) and Walsh Jennings took the gold medal at the FIVB World Tour four-star event in Jinjiang, China.
It was Walsh Jennings’ first world tour gold medal since 2016, and at age 40, she also became the oldest women’s player to win a world tour event. It was Sweat’s first-ever world tour medal.
The victory earned Sweat and Walsh Jennings and Sweat 800 FIVB points and a top-15 world ranking.
Walsh Jennings is looking to reach her sixth career Olympic Games while Sweat is hoping to reach her second.
More recently, Sweat and Walsh Jennings took fourth at the FIVB four-star event in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
