COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 26, 2022) – USA Volleyball is excited to announce the volleyball standouts who will be honored at the 2022 USA Volleyball Hall of Fame ceremony at the Dorothy C. Boyce Banquet on May 25 in Orlando, Fla.
The May event at the Rosen Centre will be the first in-person USA Volleyball Hall of Fame ceremony since 2019. Tickets are available at 2022 USA Volleyball Hall of Fame.
The Harold T. Friermood “Frier” Award, which recognizes longtime significant contributions to volleyball and is considered USA Volleyball’s highest honor, will go to legendary coach Dr. Marv Dunphy.
Dunphy coached the U.S. Men’s National Team from 1985-88. During that time, it won gold at the 1985 World Cup, the 1986 World Championship, the 1987 Pan American Games and the 1988 Olympic Games.
Michelle Brittain-Watts, director of the Starlings Indianapolis Volleyball Club, will be awarded the Rebecca B. Howard Diversity & Inclusion Award.
Among athletes who will be honored: Three-time Olympian and gold medalist April Ross will receive the 2021 Women’s Athlete of the Year title.
Three-time Olympian and silver medalist Stacy Sykora will receive the Medal of Honor.
Three-time Olympian and gold and bronze medalist Scott Fortune will receive the All-Time Great Male Indoor Athlete Award.
Three-time Olympian and bronze medalist Tammy (Liley) Leibl will receive the All-Time Great Female Indoor Athlete Award.
