Beach National Team Development Coach

Scott Davenport is the Beach National Team Development coach.

Davenport began his coaching career in indoor volleyball at Cal State Dominguez Hills but quickly found his way to the beach. He began coaching for the U.S. Beach National Team in 2008 and has since become one of the most storied coaches in beach volleyball. He’s taught U.S. BNT athletes Sarah Sponcil, Terese Cannon, Theo Brunner, Chaim Schalk. Emily Stockman Nick Lucena, Brooke Sweat, Matt Fuerbringer, Ryan Doherty and Casey Patterson, among others. He’s also coached for Canada, helping Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes win the 2019 world championship.

In addition to his national team experience, he served as the managing director of the AVP Academy from 2016 to 2020.

Davenport played collegiate volleyball, leading IPFW to a final four appearance. He also represented the U.S. at the 1999 Pan American Games and became an AVP regular from 1996-2009. He has a master’s degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills.
