COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 21, 2017) – Kim Glass, a 2008 U.S. Olympic silver medalist, is competing in MTV’s most iconic franchise “The Challenge” series. The current eight-week special event, “The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars” debuts on Nov. 21 at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
“Champs vs. Stars” will feature 10 of the fiercest champions from past “Challenge” seasons. The alumni will go head-to-head against 10 celebrity athletes and entertainers in challenge-style competitions to determine who will reign supreme. Winners will compete for a chance to take a share of the $150,000 cash prize to donate to their beloved charities.
Glass was a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team from 2007 through 2011. Aside from the Olympic silver medal, her other major accomplishments include winning gold at the 2011 FIVB World Grand Prix and 2011 NORCECA Continental Championship, and bronze at the 2007 FIVB World Cup. During the 2008 Olympic Games, Glass was the youngest player on the U.S. Olympic Team roster. She started 26 of the possible 33 sets, contributing averages of 1.67 kills, 0.33 blocks, 0.13 aces and 1.73 digs per set during the Beijing Games. Glass was a three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association and four-time All-Pac 10 pick while playing at the University of Arizona. She finished her career as the school’s all-time leader in kills (2,151) and at the time ranked third in Pac-10 in the same category. Glass was part of USA Volleyball’s High Performance pipeline before heading off to college. She was a member of the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team that competed in the 2001 FIVB World Junior Championships. A year later, Glass was a member of the 2002 U.S. Women’s Junior National Team that competed in the NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Championship. Off the court, Glass was selected as one of three athletes to model in the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition after having appeared in the 2010 ESPN The Magazine “The Body” Issue.
