COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Volleyball has announced the 24 women’s and 12 men’s pairs that will compete in the USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships, part of the Team USA Summer Champions Series, presented by Comcast.

The double-gender Collegiate Beach Championships, to be held May 11-13 at Hermosa Beach Pier in California, will serve as a Team USA Trials. Teams will play for a spot on a USAV collegiate beach national team.

In the women’s bracket, Pepperdine and Southern California each have four pairs competing, and four schools have two pairs in the competition. On the men’s side, most partnerships hail from the same university, though a few offer mixed backgrounds. UC Irvine has the most male athletes competing at the event, with five.

Seeding and pool play designations will be decided on May 10 at the player’s preliminary inquiry and technical meeting. Seeding for pool play will follow this order: USAV Beach Ranking (combined total points) as of May 8; a drawing of lots for all pairs with: the same combined total points, a combined total of zero points; where possible, pools will not have more than one pair per university; FIVB regulations will be followed for moving teams of the same university to a different pool. Click here for more about the competition regulations.

Used as an official Team USA Trials, participants are limited to U.S. citizens. There was no limit to how many pairs from a single school could compete in the 24-pair women’s bracket and 12-pair men’s bracket. The USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships is the first event of the Team USA Summer Champions Series, May 11-13 in Hermosa Beach, California. The women’s final will air live on NBCSN, May 13, 6 p.m. ET, followed by the men’s final on tape delay.
