COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 9, 2020) – Kim Hildreth/Sarah Schermerhorn took silver and Megan Kraft/Delayne Maple finished fourth on Saturday at the FIVB World Tour 1-star event in Guam.
In the gold-medal match, Hildreth/Schermerhorn fell to Japan’s Chiyo Suzuki/Yurika Sakaguchi, 21-16, 21-12.
In the bronze-medal contest, Kraft/Maple lost to Japan’s Ayumi Shiratori/Suzuka Hashimoto, 21-15, 21-12.
Both teams won qualifying matches to make it into the main draw.
The teams played each other in their second-round pool play match, with Kraft/Maple winning 23-21, 21-18. They met again in the semifinals. This time Hildreth/Schermerhorn won, 21-19, 21-18.
DOHA 4-STAR
Qualifying began on Monday for the FIVB World Tour men’s four-star event in Doha, Qatar. Billy Allen/Stafford Slick defeated England’s Mark Baechli/Mark Garcia-Kidd, 21-12, 21-8 to advance to the main draw where they are seeded 22nd.

AUSTRALIA
Twelve U.S. teams are scheduled to travel to Australia for the Coolangatta Beach, Gold Coast three- star event on March 17-22.
The U.S. women’s teams of Emily Stockman/Kelley Larsen, Kerri Walsh Jennings/Brooke Sweat and Kelly Claes/Sarah Sponcil open their seasons in Australia and are seeded second, third and fourth respectively in the main draw.
Emily Day/Betsi Flint will play Sara Hughes/Lauren Fendrick in a country quota match. Hughes/Fendrick won the FIVB two-star event in Siem Reap, Cambodia in February.
On the men’s side, Lucena/Dalhausser will be the top seeds in the Coolangatta main draw. Slick/Allen are seeded seventh and the new team of Miles Evans/Theo Brunner are seeded 12th.
The new U.S. teams of Bill Kolinske/Michael Boag, Reid Priddy/David Lee and Chaim Schalk/Chase Budinger are scheduled to play country quota matches to get into the qualifying round.
