COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 27, 2018) – Carly Bozzo, a libero/defensive specialist for the Pittsburgh Elite 18 Elite squad competing at the 2018 USA Volleyball Girls’ 18s Junior National Championships in Anaheim, has been selected as Team Travel Source’s College Bound & Proud scholarship recipient.
Team Travel Source is the “Official Housing Company for USA Volleyball National Championship Events.” The College Bound & Proud Scholarship is a $2,500 award given to one male and one female athlete who are in good standing with USA Volleyball, are in their senior year of high school and are registered for a USAV Junior National Championships event in 2018.
“Carly truly personifies the recipient that we imagined when we created the College Bound and Proud Scholarship!” said Kelley Roberts, Team Travel Source executive director. “The committee could tell through Carly’s personal essay and recommendation letters that she truly deserves this honor. We can’t wait to see what Carly achieves as a student athlete at Franklin and Marshall College.”
Bozzo will play volleyball for Franklin and Marshall College this coming fall where she will major in business, organization and society. She will be graduating from Knoch High School in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania. While at Knoch H.S., Bozzo was a member of the varsity volleyball team, National Honor Society, student council, Future Business Leaders of America, chemistry club, history club and French club.
“It is great,” Bozzo said of upon receiving her award. “I feel very humbled and honored to win this award. I feel like all my hard work is finally paying off, and that feels good going into college – to be able to know that everything is working out. I love my teammates and love everyone with Pitt Elite who came here to support me. This is a great way to end my club career.”
The College Bound and Proud Scholarship was chosen by a committee consisting of Team Travel Source team members, trusted business and education professionals, and USAV staff.
