COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 11, 2019) – The USA Volleyball Nominating Committee has confirmed the selections of David Eldridge and Elizabeth King to fill immediate vacancies as independent directors on the USA Volleyball board of directors. Eldridge and King will participate in their first USA Volleyball Board of Director’s meeting scheduled for June 21-22 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
Eldridge’s professional career has centered around government-related positions where he has used his skills as an attorney to go along with business administration. In 2015 he founded his own law practice which focuses on government relations, research and legal representation. Eldridge served as legislative counsel in the Illinois Governor’s Office of Legislative Affairs from 2013-2015 and was senior policy advisor to the Executive Ethics Commission (EEC) from 2011-2012 among his many professional roles.
“I am honored that USA Volleyball has entrusted me to provide a perspective from outside the volleyball community,” Eldridge said. “It is quite special to be asked to join an organization that is not only competitive but strives to develop and protect its athletes. I look forward to the opportunity to serve USA Volleyball.”
Eldridge, who was an officer in the United States Navy Reserves from 2002-2010, graduated from Tulane University Law School with a juris doctorate degree after earning a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in business administration from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
King is an accomplished human resources executive with extensive experience, including shaping organization team culture and building a global shared services organization at a well-respected Fortune 500 company and brand. Her strengths are in strategic planning, acquisition and leadership of high potential talent, succession planning and development, performance management, employee relations, diversity & inclusion, shared services leadership, and consulting experience in both human resources and information technology (IT).
“The vision of USA Volleyball is to be a world-class leading organization in all aspects of volleyball and to engage and inspire our nation through a cultivated passion for the game and continued success at winning Olympic and Paralympic medals,” King said. “I am honored and humbled to be asked to serve on the Board of this organization and to bring value as an Independent Board member. Athletics played a big part in my life and I am thrilled to be able to give back to this sport and it’s International and highly inclusive reach across the USA.”
King served as Starbucks’ vice president of global shared services from 2008 to 2017, and has since transitioned into private business by establishing Elizabeth M. King Consulting, LLC. As managing director of her consulting company, she has hand-selected clients providing human resources shared services consultation and executive coaching services. King has progressively stepped through the employment ranks with companies such as IBM Global Services, Eckerd Drug Company and Macy’s.
King graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1979 with a degree in political science.
Eldridge’s term ends June 30, 2021, while King’s term concludes June 30, 2022.
