Girls U19 National Training Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 29, 2022) – USA Volleyball is pleased to announce the 20 athletes chosen for the 2022 Girls U19 National Training Team.

The group will train on July 6-15 in Tulsa, Okla. Twelve players from the group will be chosen to compete at the 2022 Girls U19 Pan Am Cup on July 18-23 at the Cox Business Convention Center in Tulsa.

That tournament is being held in conjunction with the 2022 USA Volleyball All Star Championship.

Jamie Morrison, a member of three U.S. Olympic medal-winning coaching staffs, will serve as the team’s head coach. His assistants will be Michelle Chatman-Smith, who has worked with several national teams in the Development Program pipeline, and Keegan Cook, head coach at the University of Washington.

“This group of athletes is bursting with potential,” Morrison said. “Our amazing coaching staff and I are looking forward to helping point that potential in the right direction during our training block. It will then be each athlete’s responsibility to mold themselves into the player they want to be for years to come.”

Five players on the roster return from the 2021 Girls U18 Team that took bronze at the FIVB World Championship. Earlier this year, the FIVB changed its age group classifications to mirror those of male competitors.

The returning athletes are outside hitters Julia Blyashov and Harper Murray, setter Bergen Reilly, libero Lainey Choboy and middle blocker Maggie Mendelson.

The other outside hitters on the roster are Skyler Pierce, Emerson Sellman, Macaria Spears and Torrey Stafford.

The other middles on the roster are Ayden Ames, Nya Bunton, Andi Jackson and Alec Rothe. Olivia Babcock, Kira Hutson, Kennedy Martin and Abigail Mullen are the other opposites.

Charlie Fuerbringer and Isabella Starck are the other setters. Olivia Mauch is the second libero.

Fifteen USA Volleyball regions are represented on the roster led by Southern California with four players. The Rocky Mountain and Chesapeake regions each have two players on the roster. The Lone Star, Pioneer, Carolina, Great Lakes, Badger, Great Plains, Intermountain, Lakeshore, Heart of America, North Country and Ohio Valley regions each put one player on the roster.
