DALLAS (April 22, 2017) – Day two of the USA Volleyball Girls’ 18s Junior National Championships (GJNC18) produced the gold bracket quarterfinalists in four of the five division for the tournament that concludes Sunday at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas.

In the 18 Open Division, a new team will stand on the top podium step as defending champion Minnesota Select failed to reach the quarterfinals. The round of eight features matchups features A4 Volley 18-Purple (Southern California) versus KC Power 18-1 (Heart of America), Sky High-adidas 18 Black (Great Lakes) against Rockwood Thunder 18 Mizuno (Gateway), Tstreet 18-Troy challenging MEVBA 18 Mizuno (Lakeshore), and TAV 18 Black (North Texas) versus Top Select 18 Elite Blake (Florida) with 8 a.m. CT matches on Sunday. The 18 Open Champions is slated to begin at noon CT on Sunday. With semifinals at 10 a.m. CT.

Sky High-adidas 18 Black and Top Select 18 Elite Blake are the only two remaining undefeated teams in the 18 Open Division. Leading up to the GJNC18, A4 Volley 18-Purple, Sky High-adidas 18 Black and Top Select 18 Elite Blake each won two of the 16 national qualifiers.

The 18 National Division’s quarterfinals has Topeka Impact 18-1 (Heart of America) meeting Texas Tornados 18 Mizuno (Lone Star), Absolute Black 18 (North Carolina) facing IPVA 18 Black (Iowa), Temecula Viper 18 Rafu (Southern California) against Asics Louisiana 18 (Bayou), and Rolling Thunder 18 Blue (Great Lakes) meeting 1st Alliance 18 Silver (Great Lakes). The round of eight is set for 10 a.m. CT on Sunday with semifinals at noon CT and the championship match at 2 p.m. CT. Texas Tornados 18 Mizuno, IPVA 18 Black, Asics Louisiana 18 and 1st Alliance 18 Silver are all undefeated at this stage of the tournament.

The 18 USA Division quarterfinals will be heavy on teams from Texas with five of the eight from the Lone Star state. Alamo 18 Premier (Lone Star), SG Elite 18 Roshambo (Southern California), SA Force 182 National (Lone Star), AJV 18 Mizuno (Lone Star), Ignite 18 Elite (Hoosier), Sunshine 18 Westside (Southern California), Madfrong 18s N Blue (North Texas) and AP 18 Asics (Lone Star) have reached the top eight in the 18 USA gold bracket. The division’s remaining undefeated teams are Alamo 18 Premier, SA Force 182, AJV 18 Mizuno, Ignite 18 Elite and Sunshine 18 Westside. The quarterfinal round for the division is at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday with the championship match at 1:30 p.m. CT.

The eight teams heading to the 18 American Division quarterfinals are Arsenal 18 Gold (North Texas), Goldenwest 18 Asics (Southern California), Valley Venom – 181 Red (Lone Star), CVC 18 Black (Ohio Valley), Legacy 18-Norh (Lakeshore), Xceleration Blue 18-1 (Northern California), Rage 18-Greg (Northern California and tcaoh 18-1 (Ohio Valley). The only undefeated teams remaining in the American Division are Arsenal 18 Gold and Goldenwest 18 Asics, which will meet in the first quarterfinals set for 8 a.m. CT. The championship match will be on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CT.

The 18 Patriot Division has 12 teams still in the hunt for the gold medal as eight teams battle at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday for spots into the quarterfinals to join four teams which have advanced directly into the quarterfinals. LAVA West 18 adidas (Southern California), SoCal VBC 18-Andrea (Southern California), Motion Volleyball 18 BLUE (Badger) and Digs 18-1 (Bayou) have already claimed tickets into the elite eight. SoCal VBC 18-Andrea, Motion Volleyball 18 BLU and Digs 18-1 have yet to lose at the GJNC18. The quarterfinal round matches are at 11 a.m. CT. with the eventual championship match set for 3 p.m. CT.
