U.S. Men’s Sitting Team was hosting the seven-team Paralympic qualifier with the winner earning a berth into the 2020 Paralympic Games

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 12, 2020) – The Tokyo 2020 Men’s Final Paralympic Qualification Tournament scheduled to be held March 16-21 in Edmond, Oklahoma, has been canceled according to World ParaVolley.

The tournament was cancelled following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that travel from 26 European countries to the United States was suspended for non-U.S. citizens for 30 days to limit the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19. The travel restrictions directly impacted two of the participating countries.

The seven-team tournament was to award the winner the eighth and final spot into the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. World ParaVolley will later decide on how to award the final berth into the Paralympic Games.

Along with host USA, participating teams scheduled to take part were Canada, Croatia, Germany, Kazakhstan, Latvia and Ukraine.
