COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 16, 2025) – The U.S. Men’s Sitting Team defeated Germany three more times over the weekend to finish the friendly series with a 5-0 record. The U.S., ranked No. 8 in the world, squared off against No. 4 Germany at the Sierra Girls 18s National Qualifier in Sacramento, California.

The U.S. will next be in action at the ParaVolley Pan American Zonal Championships, which are being held this May in Denver, Colorado, alongside the Open National Championship.

Match No. 3 (Saturday morning)

The U.S. picked up where it left off Friday with its third win of the series, 3-0 (25-9, 25-23, 25-22). Again, the Americans led in kills (36-18) and aces (10-4) but Germany held a 10-9 edge in blocks.

Zach Upp and Rod Green each scored 14 points. Upp led all players with nine kills, and he added two blocks and three aces. Green had eight kills, three blocks and three aces. Eric Duda was the only other player in double figures, scoring 11 on 10 kills and an ace.

James Stuck had four kills and three blocks for seven points, and Jason Roberts had three kills and a block. Setter John Kremer picked up three aces, and Fabricio da Silva Pinto had a pair of kills. Nick Dadgostar was at libero for sets one and two, and then shared the duties with Will Curtis in the third.

Match No. 4 (Saturday afternoon)

In the tightest match of the series, Upp scored a whopping 28 points as the U.S. came from two sets down to win 23-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-8, 15-10.

Upp’s dominating performance included a match-high 18 kills, a match-high six blocks, and four aces. Stuck also had a strong day at the net, finishing with 10 kills and five blocks, along with two aces, for 17 points. Da Silvo Pinto came in as a sub in set two and then started the last three sets to tally 13 points on nine kills and four blocks.

Green had eight kills, two blocks and an ace for 11 points, and Duda notched eight kills. Roberts had seven kills and an ace, and Kremer had four aces and a kill at setter. Curtis played all five sets at libero to anchor the defense.

The U.S. led in in kills (61-41) and aces (12-6), but again Germany won the block battle, 18-17.

Match No. 5 (Sunday morning)

In the final match of the series, the U.S. finished the sweep with a 3-0 win, 25-18, 27-25, 25-22.

Upp again led the way, this time with 21 points on 11 kills, three blocks and a match-high seven aces. Roberts started all three sets to score 13 points on five kills, five aces and three blocks. Stuck had eight kills, two blocks and an ace for 11 points, and da Silva Pinto scored nine with eight kills and a block. Pinto also subbed in at setter for Kremer in the third set. In his two sets, Kremer had one ace.

Duda had two kills and two aces, Dan Regan had two kills and a block, and Alex Wilson had one block. At libero, Curtis and Robbie Gaupp shared duties.

Germany led in blocks, 13-11, but again the U.S. led in kills (36-27) and aces (16-3).
