COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 16, 2020) – Steve Kenyon has been elected to serve on the USA Volleyball Board of Directors as its officials representative through June 30, 2023.

Kenyon, who has served as commissioner of the Southern Region Volleyball Association since 2018, has 25-plus years of volleyball experience as an official, trainer, rater and assignor. He has been a USA Volleyball national referee in indoor since 1996 and on the beach since 1998.

“Representing officials on the USA Volleyball Board of Directors offers me an incredible opportunity to serve as a voice for my volleyball family,” Kenyon said. “My experience as an active, multi-discipline official gives me a unique perspective. I understand officiating from multiple perspectives, at many levels of play. I believe in this organization, this sport and its ability to make a difference in people’s lives—players, coaches, officials and staff.”

Kenyon served as the USA Volleyball National Director for Regional Volleyball Association beach officials development from 2005 to 2016. He was the national governing body’s national director for beach officials certification and evaluation from 2017-18. Kenyon was the Southern Region referee chair from 1998-2018 prior to his current role as commissioner. He has served on the USA Volleyball Indoor and Beach National Rating Team since 2006.

Collegiately, Kenyon has been active officiating several conferences for indoor and beach volleyball. He has officiated numerous NCAA Championship matches including the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Beach Championships and the 2006 and 2014 NCAA Division III National Championships along with other early round contests. Kenyon actively officiates in the ACC, CCSA, CUSA, SEC and Sun Belt to go along with his USA Volleyball assignments.
