COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 19, 2026) – USA Volleyball has announced the hiring of Sydnie Mabry as performance analyst for the U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team. Mabry brings extensive experience in volleyball analytics and data management, having worked with elite collegiate programs as well as the U.S. Men’s Sitting Team.

“We’re thrilled to officially bring Sydnie on board full time,” said Men’s Sitting Team head coach Greg Walker. “Her educational background in statistical data science provides exactly the kind of innovative edge our program needs to push boundaries. Over the past three years, her ability to translate complex data into actionable, high-level insights has already been instrumental to our success and in-match decision-making.”

Walker added, “I am really excited to have her with us full time so she can fully focus on innovating analytics in volleyball globally. Having her expertise goes beyond just helping our current roster. By pushing us further ahead in simulation and predictive models—metrics seen in other highly developed sports—Sydnie is going to help us set an entirely new standard for how the game is prepared for and played on the international stage.”

Mabry has served as technical coordinator in an independent contractor role for the U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team since May 2023, supporting the team through major international competitions, including second-place finishes at the 2023 and 2025 Zonal Championships and the 2024 Last Chance Qualifier, a third-place finish at the 2023 Dutch Tournament, and the team’s first-place victory at the 2025 Dutch Tournament.

Previously, she was the performance analyst for both the women’s and men’s volleyball programs at Penn State. She contributed to the Nittany Lions’ 2024 B1G Ten and NCAA National Championship titles and the men’s team’s 2023 and 2024 EIVA Conference titles and 2023 NCAA Final Four finish. She co-founded the Analytics Cadre at Penn State, a student-driven group focused on developing new metrics and tools to enhance team performance. Prior to Penn State, she served as technical coordinator and team manager for the NC State’s women’s volleyball program from 2019-2022.

“I’m incredibly honored to officially join the team in this role,” Mabry said. “Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside an exceptional group of athletes and coaches who are committed to competing at the highest level. I’m excited to continue supporting this team as we work toward our goals on the international stage.”

A native of Raleigh, N.C., Mabry has one younger brother and has been involved in volleyball since watching the sport during the 2012 London Olympics. She was a libero/DS in both high school and club volleyball. As president of NC State’s club volleyball team, she led the squad to a third-place finish in the D1AA division at the NCVF Nationals Tournament.

Mabry graduated magna cum laude from NC State in 2022 with a double major in statistics and sport management. She is proficient in VolleyStation, Data Volley, R, SAS, Python, and Excel, and holds certifications as a SAS Certified Associate and in Data Security.
