COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 8, 2026) – USA Volleyball announces the USA Volleyball Cup, a two-match international series between the U.S. Women’s National Team and Canada, taking place Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Jenny Craig Pavilion in San Diego and Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif. Tickets are now on sale.
The series provides a redemption opportunity for the U.S. Women following Canada’s straight set win (25-22, 25-22, 30-28) in Quebec City at the 2026 Volleyball Nations League. It was Canada’s first victory over the United States in four all-time VNL matchups.
“What happened in Quebec City is exactly what our sport needs. Canada earned that win, and our athletes haven’t forgotten it,” said USA Volleyball CEO and President John Speraw. “Bringing this rematch to Southern California as we all march toward LA28 is an opportunity to show sports fans in Southern California how amazing these athletes are.”
With the FIVB World Cup of Volleyball coming to the United States and Canada in 2027 and the Olympic Games returning to Los Angeles in 2028, every meeting between these two programs carries a heightened level of intensity. The Southern California series offers American fans a rare chance to see both national teams at full strength, just down the freeway from where Olympic volleyball history will be made in 2028 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
“That match in Quebec City stung, and it should have. Canada outplayed us in the moments that decided sets. But that’s exactly why this series matters. You don’t build a team that can win a World Cup in 2027 or stand on a podium in Los Angeles in 2028 without being tested,” said U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Erik Sullivan. “Playing back-to-back nights in front of our home crowd is the kind of test we need and want.”
USA Volleyball Cup Details
- Match 1: Saturday, Aug. 15 — Jenny Craig Pavilion, San Diego, 7 p.m.
- Match 2: Sunday, Aug. 16 — Bren Events Center, Irvine, 7 p.m.
The U.S. Women are currently ranked No. 1 in the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) preliminary standings with an 8-1 record. Canada comes into this matchup ranked No. 7 in the VNL with a record of 6-3.
