First and Third for U.S. Women at U19 Beach World Championship

Myriah Massey/Lily Dee Davis took gold and Sally Perez/Sarah Wood took bronze as the U.S. claimed two steps on the podium at the 2024 U19 World University Championships in Shangluo, China. The U19 Beach World Championships are an FIVB event comprised of 103 teams from 50 countries representing all five continental confederations. This year’s tournament is the 18th installment of the event which started in 2002.

U.S. Men Finish Ninth at U19 Beach World Championship

The U.S. beach teams of Grant Lamoureux/Blake Goodwin and Caleb Blanchette/Malachi Brewington completed their run at the 2024 U19 World University Championships in Shangluo, China with an exit in the Round of 16. Beach Update: U.S. Earns Two Medals at Futures Halifax

Last week, U.S. pairs took home two medals at BPT Futures Halifax. This week, competition is underway in the U19 Beach World Championships. All four pairs entered advanced past the qualification phase into the main draw. We also look ahead to upcoming beach events to finish out the month.

Beach Update: Five Post-Paris Tournaments to End Summer

There are several beach events on the calendar over the next few weeks, including the Beach U19 World Championships and World University Championships. The Beach Pro Tour also resumes with a slate of post-Olympic events.

Partain/Benesh Finish Fifth in Paris

The U.S. men’s beach team of Miles Partain and Andy Benesh completed their Olympic run in Paris in the quarterfinals with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) loss to Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan of Qatar on Wednesday. Partain and Benesh, the youngest U.S. men’s beach team in Olympic history, ran off three consecutive wins to reach the quarters.

Kloth/Nuss Drop Heartbreaker in Paris Round of 16

The U.S. beach team of Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss came from behind late in both sets on Monday before falling to Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson of Canada in the Paris Round of 16, 2-0 (21-19, 21-18). Kloth/Nuss posted a 3-1 record in their first Olympic appearance and finished ninth.

Partain/Benesh Headed to Paris Quarterfinals

Running its option offense with great effectiveness, the U.S. beach team of Miles Partain and Andy Benesh defeated Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava of Italy, 2-0 (21-17, 21-18) on Monday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics. 

Kloth/Nuss Overcome 1st Set Loss, Rain Delay to Win Pool in Paris

The U.S. beach team of Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss rallied from one set down to finish 3-0 and finish first in Pool B with a 2-1 (15-21, 21-16, 15-12) two-hour win over Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi of China on Thursday. Kloth/Nuss advanced directly to the Round of 16, which begins on Sunday, Aug. 4.

Partain/Benesh Reach Round of 16 in Paris with Three-Set Win

The youngest U.S. men’s beach team in Olympic history, Miles Partain and Andy Benesh, earned a spot in the Round of 16 at the Paris Olympics with a 2-1 (21-17, 14-21, 15-8) win over George Wanderley and Andre Loyola of Brazil in gusty conditions on Thursday.

Partain/Benesh Earn First Olympic Win

Playing in nearly 115-degree heat on center court, the U.S. beach team of Miles Partain and Andy Benesh outlasted Mohammed Abicha and Zouheir Elgraoui of Morocco, 2-0 (21-12, 28-26) to even their record at 1-1 on Tuesday.
