In their first Olympic match together, the U.S. beach team of Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng, ranked No. 3 in the world, started rolling late in the first set and went on to defeat Barbora Hermannova Marie and Sara Stochlova of the Czechia, 2-0 (21-16, 21-11) on Sunday.
Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss, the No. 2 team ranked women’s beach team in the world, started strong and never looked back in a 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) over the team of Heather Bansley and Sophie Bukovec of Canada in their opening match in the Paris Olympics on Saturday.
The veteran U.S. Men’s National Team started the Paris Olympic Games in strong fashion with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-16) victory over Argentina on Saturday.
The U.S. beach team of Miles Partain and Andy Benesh put in a strong effort but fell short in their debut match of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games to Alayo/Diaz of Cuba 2-0 (21-18, 21-18).
Four pairs – two women’s, two men’s – will represent the U.S. at the beach volleyball event taking place at Eiffel Tower Stadium for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. While there are some new Olympians on the U.S. Men’s roster for the Olympic Games in Paris, the majority of the team has spent the last decade training and competing together, and a few even longer.

The U.S. Men’s National Team will play for Pan American Volleyball Cup gold on Sunday after defeating Cuba today in a thrilling five-set match (25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 24-26, 15-11 ) at the Professor Ricardo Gioriber Arias Volleyball Palace in Santo Domingo.
