In the latest installment of the beach update, we recap the results from Challenge Saquarema and get you ready for three beach events on the calendar for this week, including the second NORCECA Playoff of the year in Manhattan Beach on April 5.
Long Beach State remains on top in this week’s college roundup, earning 23 votes in the latest AVCA poll. Meanwhile, Hawaii sinks down from No. 2 to No. 5. There are no changes in the DIII rankings as we conclude another week and move one step closer to the postseason. The college roundup showcases some of the key matches of the week while also highlighting athletes who are part of the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program.
Chase Budinger and Miles Evans finished just off the podium over the weekend at the BPT Challenge in Recife, while Alaina Chacon/Mariah Whalen won their second straight medal in a BPT Futures event. Major changes hit the men’s volleyball college roundup as we finish off the second full week of March. Down goes former No. 1 GCU, who had its undefeated streak snapped with two ranked losses in the Outrigger Invitational. This result moves the Rainbow Warriors up to the No. 1 slot in this week’s rankings.
In this week’s update, setter Micah Ma’a and Halkbank are still undefeated in Türkiye. Outside hitter T.J. DeFalco and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów look strong in Poland. Thomas Jaeschke and the Panasonic Panthers lead the league in Japan.
