COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 15, 2023) – The U.S. women’s beach team of Corinne Quiggle/Sarah Schermerhorn and the men’s beach team of Hagen Smith/Logan Webber qualified for the Pan American Games by winning the qualifier on June 13-14 in Manhattan Beach.

Twelve women’s teams competed in the qualification tournament. In the final, Quiggle/Schermerhorn beat Kim Hildreth/Teegan Vangunst 2-0 (21-9, 21-17).

In the women’s third-place match, Megan Rice/Allie Wheeler beat Cecilia Agraz/Megan Gebhard 2-0 (21-11, 21-11).

Eight men’s teams competed in the qualifier. In the final, Smith/Webber beat Tim Brewster/Kyle Friend 2-0 (21-18, 21-18).

In the third-place match, Cody Caldwell/Lila Tucker beat Evan Cory/Troy Field 2-0.

The Pan American Games will take place Oct. 20-Nov. 5 in Santiago, Chile. The beach volleyball tournament will be Oct. 21-27.

WORLDS QUALIFIERS

The U.S. teams of Kelley Kolinske/Hailey Harward and Andy Benesh/Miles Partain qualified for the 2023 FIVB Beach World Championships at the NORCECA qualifying event on July 7-8 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Both teams qualified by making it to the semifinals. Kolinske/Harward beat Bethania Almanzar/Julibeth Payano of the Dominican Republic in the semis, 2-0 (21-9, 21-17).

In the final, Kolinske/Harward lost to Puerto Rico’s Allanis Navas/María González 2-1 (18-21, 21-17, 15 -11).

Benesh/Partain made it to the semis but took and injury default for the rest of the tournament and finished fourth.

JURMALA CHALLENGE

Three U.S. beach teams qualified for the main draw at the Jurmala Challenge event in Latvia.

Kolinske/Harward, Brook Bauer/Katie Horton and Megan Kraft/Emily Stockman all qualified on Thursday and will begin main draw play on Friday.

Julia Scoles/Betsi Flint will begin in the women’s main draw. Trevor Crabb/Theo Brunner, Miles Evans/Chase Budinger and Chaim Schalk/Tri Bourne will open in the men’s main draw.
