Sixteen Athletes Participating in Beach U19 Training Block

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 10, 2024) – Sixteen athletes have been selected as part of the 2024 U19 Beach National Team Training Block #1. 

The players are training June 10-14 at Hermosa Beach, Calif., with trials taking place June 17-20. The first team, second team and alternates will be named post-trials with the top performing pair of each gender earning the right to represent the U.S. at the FIVB Beach U19 World Championship. 

The Girls U19 team features Charlotte Bell, Lily Dee Davis, Elena Fisher, Myriah Massey, Sally Perez, Jordyn Scribner, Sarah Wood and Kyra Zaengle. 

Massey was a member of the 2022 and 2023 Beach U19 National Team and paired with Ashley Pater to finish first at the 2022 FIVB U19 Beach World Championship Trials and take silver at the 2022 FIVB U19 Beach World Championship. She and Kennedy Coakley earned a silver medal at the 2023 Caribbean Beach Championship. 

Wood was a member of the 2023 Beach U19 National Team, and Perez was part of the 2023 Beach U21 National Team. 

University of Texas beach assistant coach Angie Akers will coach the Girls U19 squad. UCLA beach assistant Kelly Reeves will assist Akers. 

The Boys U19 team includes Caleb Blanchette, Malachi Brewington, Kyle Chapman, Ambrose Engling, Grant Lamoureux, Spencer Smith, George Stevens and Trey Thornton. 

In addition to having been part of the 2022 and 2023 U19 Beach National Teams, Blanchette is a member of the 2024 Men’s U21 National Team (indoor) and is an alternate for the team at the NORCECA Continental Championship, June 11-16 in Nogales, Mexico. 

Lamoureux is also a national indoor player and in his second season as part of the Boys U19 National Team. He was recently selected as 2nd Best Spiker at 2024 NORCECA Continental Championship where the U.S. won gold. 

Ohio State indoor associate head coach Hudson Bates will coach the boys assisted by Beach NTDP assistant coach Laurel Weaver.
