As the sport of volleyball continues to grow in popularity with young athletes around the country, USA Volleyball is announcing that it will split its Girls Junior National Championship to provide more opportunities for clubs and junior athletes to compete. The inaugural USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship (GJNC) for the 11-13 age divisions will be held on June 14-17, 2023, in Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 22, 2022) – More than 1,590 girls volleyball teams will celebrate summer and their love for volleyball over the next 12 days at the 2022 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship (GJNC) at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
The 42 annual edition of the event is the last one that will include all age divisions from 12 to 17. Starting in 2023, there will be a GJNC for the 11-13 age divisions and another for ages 14-17.
For 2022, approximately 31,900 participants are expected to be in Indianapolis and when they aren’t enjoying volleyball they will be eating at the city’s restaurants or visiting one of its many attractions.
The GJNC is the United States’ premier junior girls club tournament and attracts college scouts from across the country. Indianapolis previously hosted the GJNC in 2016 and 2019.
All teams except those in the Patriot Division must qualify through USA Volleyball national or regional qualifying tournaments held across the country, or through at-large selections based on results at qualifying tournaments.
A list of qualifying tournaments is available on the USA Volleyball website.
The GJNC uses a staggered start and finish for age-group divisions over the course of the tournament. Teams will compete for one of 49 titles across seven age groups (11-17s).
All courts will be live streamed on BallerTV.com, a subscription service. Four courts will be streamed for free on USAVolleyball.org.
