COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 12, 2026) – After a weather delay suspended play for a day, the U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team battled No. 1 ranked Egypt before falling, 3-1 (24-26, 25-15, 25-18, 25-8) on Sunday at the 2026 World ParaVolley World Championship in Hangzhou, China.
The U.S. (1-1) will face Rwanda (0-2) at 10 p.m. PT tonight.
The U.S. nearly matched Egypt in kills (42-40) and service aces (11-8), while Egypt finished with a 17-5 advantage in blocks.
“I think these are the good opportunities that are going to help us find what it is really going to take to find ourselves on the podium more times than not. I told the guys we are not waiting for something, it is not just going to happen for us. They have to be able to do it every time. We are the underdogs, so we have to chase,” said U.S. head coach Greg Walker. “First set was great when we came from behind and chased it, but Egypt has a lot of experience, and they find themselves in medal rounds a lot. I think there is a lot to learn from it. To be on any podium, you have to have to go through Egypt and go through this type of team. There is a lot to learn.”
Zach Upp led all players with 22 points and six service aces, recording 15 kills and a block. Eric Duda totaled eight points on seven kills and a block, and middle Roderick Green finished with seven points on four kills, two blocks and an ace.
Robbie Onusko contributed six points on five kills and a block, and fellow outside Ben Aman scored five points on four kills and an ace. James Stuck delivered three kills and Jason Roberts added two.
