COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 24, 2026) – The U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team earned a silver medal at the USAV Sitting Cup in Orlando, Florida. The sixth-ranked team in the world dropped the gold medal match on Sunday to Brazil’s Club Athletico Paulistano (18-25, 25-21, 29-27, 25-23).
Four U.S. players reached double digits in scoring, led by middle blocker Roderick Green, who posted 18 points on 10 kills and six of the team’s 10 blocks to go with two aces. Eric Duda led the team with 14 kills and added an ace for 15 points. Outsider hitter Zach Upp (12 kills and two aces) and Fabricio da Silva Pinto (13 kills and a block) each finished with 14 points. Upp was named the tournament’s best server.
Ben Aman contributed nine points with seven kills, a block and an ace. James Stuck totaled six points on three kills, two blocks and an ace.
Brazil started the match strong, taking a 6-2 lead, but a Green ace capped a 5-0 run that put the U.S. ahead. Fabricio kills helped the U.S. to three-point advantages at 12-9 and 14-11. A Duda kill and another Green ace propelled the U.S. to a 17-12 lead. Brazil closed the gap to one, 19-18, before a Fabricio kill and Duda ace started a 6-0 run that gave the U.S. the set. Fabricio finished the set with five kills.
Trailing 5-3 in the second set, Brazil ran off five consecutive points to take a three-point lead. A block put Brazil up 15-10. A Duda kill highlighted a 4-1 U.S. stretch that cut the margin to two points. With the U.S. down 17-15, Upp served an ace to force a Brazil timeout. Brazil scored three of the next four points to stretch the margin back to three points, 20-17. Fabricio (kill) and Green (block) scored to cut the lead back to one point, but the U.S. was unable to draw even as Brazil took the set to tie the match at one set apiece.
Green (three kills and a block) and Fabricio (two kills) scored the first six U.S. points in the third set, while Brazil was held to one point before calling timeout. Brazil scored four consecutive points out of the timeout to cut the lead to one and eventually tied the score 9-9. Green’s third block put the U.S. up 15-13. After Brazil tied the score again, Upp led the U.S. to a 17-15 advantage with a kill. Aman registered a kill for an 18-16 lead but Brazil again battled back to square the set.
A kill by Upp helped the U.S. regain its two-point lead, 20-18, before Brazil ran off three points in a row to take the lead. Fabricio tied the score at 21 with a kill but Brazil took a 24-22 lead. A Green block and Brazil hitting error knotted the set at 24-24. The U.S. took leads on kills by Upp and Green, but Brazil defended set point both times. Duda scored on a Brazil set point to make it 27-27 before the U.S. fell behind 2-1 in the match by dropping the last two points.
Upp, Duda and Green each recorded two kills as the U.S. raced to a 9-1 lead in the fourth set. Brazil responded with its own 5-1 run to cut the lead in half. A Fabricio kill and Stuck block pushed the lead back to five points, 13-8. Brazil scored the next two points, prompting the U.S. to use its second timeout. Scoring went back and forth with a Duda kill giving the U.S. a 19-15 lead before Brazil stormed back to take a 22-20 lead, completing a 7-1 run. The U.S. scored the next three points with kills by Aman and Fabricio leading the comeback. Brazil called time out and then scored the final three points of the match.
