COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 24, 2022) – For the second consecutive year, male collegiate athletes will have a chance to test their beach volleyball skills this fall at the USA Volleyball Men’s Beach Collegiate Challenge.

The tournament returns to Owings Mills, Md., and the campus of Stevenson University Sept. 9-11, 2022. This year’s field has 32 teams, and every athlete will have the opportunity to be scouted through the Beach NTDP Scouting Network.

Registration will open June 1, 2022. Pairs must register as a team but do not need to attend the same college or university.

Also different this year, there will not be a pre-tournament qualifier. All 32 pairs are guaranteed three matches in the four-team pool format.

The field will be selected as follows:

  • 24 teams based on the following criteria:
    • One team per school (only those registered before the August 1, 2022 deadline
    • USA Volleyball and AVP Ranking Points as of August 1, 2022
    • Time of registration
  • Six wild card berths granted by USA Volleyball
  • Two berths to host Stevenson University

Penn State’s Will Bantle/Cal Fisher won last year’s inaugural Collegiate Beach Challenge, beating Noah Dyer/George Dyer. Campbellsville University’s Ryan Smith/Jason Camacho took bronze.

The mission of the National Team Development Program (NTDP) is to identify, recruit and accelerate the development of high-potential junior volleyball players for the ultimate purpose of strengthening our national team programs to achieve sustained competitive excellence.
