U.S. Men Advance to 3-0 at 2026 Men's Pan Am Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 12, 2026) – The U.S. Men’s National Team defeated Trinidad and Tobago, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-14) on Wednesday to move to 3-0 at the 2026 NORCECA Pan American Cup in Cuernavaca Morelos, Mexico.

The U.S. will conclude pool play against undefeated Canada tomorrow at 3 p.m. PT. The winner will finish first in Pool A and advanced directly to the semifinals on Saturday night.

The U.S. held substantial advantages in kills (37-17), blocks (9-4) and service aces (5-0).

The top five scorers in the match were all U.S. players, led by outside hitter Jacob Pasteur with 12 points on 10 kills, a block and an ace. Opposite Kyle Hobus also reached double digits with 11 points on nine kills, a block and an ace. Middle blockers Cameron Thorne and Micah Wong Diallo each produced five kills and three blocks with Thorne adding an ace.

Outside Sterling Foley finished the match with eight points on six kills, one block, and one ace, while adding four excellent receptions. Setter Michael Wright scored three points on two kills and an ace, while running the nearly unstoppable U.S. offense that hit at a .525 hitting efficiency percentage. Libero Jacob Reilly led all players with 11 digs and five excellent receptions.

A Wright ace and four Trinidad and Tobago errors gave the U.S. a 5-0 lead to begin the match. A Foley kill put the U.S. up 7-2. A Pasteur block and a strong dig from Foley led to a Hobus kill and a 14-6 advantage. Another Hobus kill and a block by Wong Diallo pushed the margin to nine points, 17-8. A Thorne block on a one-on-one stretched the lead to double digits, 19-9, and he followed with another block, the fifth of the set for the U.S. Thorne took a short serve and put a ball away on a perfect set from Wright for a 21-10 U.S. lead. Trinidad and Tobago was able to play a Thorne serve off the net only to get blocked by Wong Diallo for set point at 24-12 with the U.S. eventually taking the set on a service error. Wong Diallo and Thorne each scored four points, combining for five blocks.

Pasteur opened the scoring in the second set and then teamed with Wright to keep the next rally going. Pasteur recycled off the Trinidad and Tobago block that led to a Hobus kill. Thorne played a serve off the net and Wright fed Pasteur on a back row attack and crushed the ball. A Hobus ace and a Trinidad and Tobago error extended the lead to five points, 9-4. A Foley serve caused an overpass that Wright put away for an 11-5 lead. Trinidad and Tobago pulled within four points, 13-9, on a block. Using his high vertical leap, Wong Diallo scored over the block for a 15-10 lead. Back-to-back blocks by Foley and Hobus pushed the lead to seven points. After two Trinidad and Tobago blocks, the U.S. ran off three points in a row on kills by Pasteur and Thorne, followed by another Wright score off an overpass, this time on a Hobus serve. The U.S. earned set point on a Pasteur kill and Hobus scored off the block to finish the set. Hobus scored six points on four kills, a block and an ace with Pasteur adding five kills.

A great Reilly pass led to a Foley kill to open the third set. An up by Reilly off a tough serve and a one-handed set from Wright set up Foley for a kill and a 7-4 U.S. lead. Thorne put a ball away and Pasteur ended one of the longer rallies with a kill off the block for a 10-5 U.S. advantage. A Hobus kill extended the margin to six points, 14-8. The lead reached eight, 18-10, on another Hobus kill, a Thorne block, and a hitting error that forced Trinidad & Tobago to take a timeout. Thorne recorded another block out of the timeout to push the score to 19-10. Pasteur went crosscourt for a kill and Hobus raised the lead to double digits with a kill set up by a great dig from Hobus. A Thorne ace doubled up the score, 22-11. Pasteur bombed a serve for an ace to end the match, his fourth point of the set. Foley delivered four kills with Hobus and Thorne each scoring three points.
