Roderick Green (World ParaVolley)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 15, 2026) – The U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team dropped a 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-16) quarterfinal match to reigning Paralympic champions Iran at the 2026 World ParaVolley World Championship in Hangzhou, China on Wednesday.

The U.S. (3-2) will continue play with a rematch against Rwanda at 12:30 a.m. PT. The U.S. clinched second place in its pool when the teams met previously.

“I think it shows us how close we are, but it also shows us that in big moments, we are going to have to make a few less unforced errors. After the first set, we had more kills than they had, our kill percentage was better. We have to maintain a little bit more control. I told our servers you’re not going to go back there and ace them off the floor, so we need to be thinking about how we are going to give our defense a chance,” said U.S. head coach Greg Walker. “Our defense crushed it. We knew it was going to be a punch for punch match. At times, we were frustrating Iran and that is a different place than we have ever been. We made them uncomfortable from the service line in the first set and our block did such a great job with discipline and control.”

Iran led in all statistical categories with edges in kills (38-28), blocks (11-8) and aces (9-2).

Roderick Green led the U.S. with 13 points on nine kills and sharing match-high honors with four blocks. Eric Duda finished with 11 points on a team-best 10 kills and an ace.

Zach Upp contributed six points on five kills and an ace. Robbie Onusko (three kills) and James Stuck (two blocks, one kill) each scored three points. Ben Aman added two blocks.
