Complete every step below before you can be assigned to SCSN matches.

SportsEngine will email you which eligibility requirements remain before you can participate.

3Attend a clinicAttend one Officials’ Clinic. The regional clinic is mandatory for anyone officiating SCSN tournaments, and in-person attendance is required for re-certification.
No assignments are made to anyone who has not completed all SportsEngine registration and SCSN payments, finished the SafeSport refresher module, and attended the Officials’ Clinic.

What to do now: finish steps 1 and 2 above so you can register the moment dates open — clinics fill, and no assignments are made until you have attended one.

Required USAV Modules
2026–2027 modules · coming soonEvery official completes one USAV training module in the Volleyball Academy, matched to experience level. Course codes and the completion deadline for 2026–2027 will be posted here alongside the clinic dates. What to do now: make sure you can reach the Volleyball Academy from your SportsEngine profile — that is where the module will appear.

New Officials

If this is your first season with SCSN, complete the three eligibility steps above, then these two.

Before your clinicNew officials complete the New Provisional Officials Training module (1–3 years) in the USAV Volleyball Academy before registering for a clinic. The 2026–2027 course code will be posted above.
On-court evaluation

  • All new officials must complete an on-court evaluation before being assigned to a club volleyball match.
  • Evaluation dates and the signup form are published once established — we try to make it part of the New Officials Clinic.
  • The signup form is emailed to you by Patrick Bradley.

Junior Officials (16–17)

Officials aged 16 and 17 register through the Junior Officials Program, then complete the same requirements and clinic as everyone else.

Eligibility

  • Must be at least 16 years old — minimum, no exceptions.
  • Coaches may officiate.
  • SafeSport and a background check are required if you are 18, or turning 18 during the club season.

Advancing to Regional

Provisional officials may request Regional status at any time during the current season.

1AttendanceYou must have officiated 20 regional event days each year for a minimum of two years. Events like the Vegas Classic or Red Rock Rave do not count.
2ApplicationEmail John Pedersen, Patrick Bradley, and Todd Livdahl to be considered. The subject line must read Regional Rating Request.
3EvaluationIf accepted, the region assigns a lead official to evaluate you at a normal SCSN regional event. If you’re operating at the right level, your certification is upgraded to Regional.
