U.S. Wins Again at 2026 NORCECA Final Six

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 24, 2026) – The U.S. Men’s National Team earned its second consecutive win at the 2026 NORCECA Final Six with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-16) victory over Guatemala on Monday in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

The U.S. will next face rival Canada tomorrow at 3 p.m. PT. Canada defeated the U.S. in three sets, 34-32 in the final set, in the Pan American Cup preliminary round. The U.S. ended up taking the gold medal in the tournament, defeating Puerto Rico, who upset Canada in the semifinals.

The U.S. led in every statistical category, 41-23 in kills and 11-4 in blocks, while serving all five aces of the match.

Each of the top five scorers were U.S. players, led by outside hitter Jacob Pasteur, who led all players with 11 kills and two aces, and shared match-high honors with three blocks for 16 points. Outside Patrick Rogers totaled 12 points on 10 kills and two blocks with opposite Kyle Hobus rounding out the double-digit scorers with 11 points on nine kills, a block and an ace, while leading the team with five digs.

Middle blocker Cameron Thorne finished with nine points on eight kills and a block, and fellow middle Parker Tomkinson scored seven points on three kills, three blocks and an ace. Setter Michael Wright contributed a block and an ace in addition to running the U.S. offense that hit .403 for the match, including .591 over the final two sets. Libero Troy Gooch posted a match-high 12 excellent receptions to go with four digs.

The Pan American Cup’s top blocker, Tomkinson, started the match with a block. The teams split the first eight points before the U.S. scored the next four points with a Pasteur ace and a Guatemala hitting error giving the U.S. an 8-4 lead. Guatemala ran off five points of its own to take its first lead. Another Tomkinson block put the U.S. ahead 12-10. A Hobus kill and Pasteur block gave the U.S. its first three-point lead, 15-12. A Pasteur kill, Thorne block and Hobus ace pushed the margin to six points, 19-13. A Tomkinson kill made the score 23-17 and a seventh Guatemala hitting error gave the U.S. set point. Guatemala staved off two set points before a Rogers kill ended the set. Pasteur scored six points on three kills, two blocks and an ace.

Back-to-back Hobus kills put the U.S. ahead 3-1 to start the second set. A Tomkinson ace extended the lead to four, 6-2, causing Guatemala to take an early timeout. A Pasteur kill and Thorne block started a 5-0 run that raised the margin to nine points, 13-4. Kills by Rogers and Thorne followed by a Pasteur ace sent Guatemala to its second timeout. The U.S. moved ahead by double digits, 16-6, on a Tomkinson block. Thorne and Hobus produced kills for a 20-10 U.S. lead. Hobus gave the U.S. a 24-12 lead and two points later, Rogers ended the set for the second set in a row. After committing eight hitting errors in the opening set, the U.S. made only one in the second set on its way to hitting at a .650 hitting efficiency percentage. Hobus delivered six kills in seven total attacks.

A Thorne kill gave the U.S. a 7-4 lead in the third set. Guatemala pulled within a point, 8-7, before Rogers recorded back-to-back kills to start a five-point U.S. run. A Hobus block and Wright ace completed the run that put the U.S. ahead 13-7. Hobus and Pasteur kills raised the margin to seven points, 15-8. A Thorne kill gave the U.S. an 18-11 lead before a Guatemala timeout. A Wright block after the timeout extended the margin to eight points. Guatemala scored the next three points before Pasteur’s 10th and 11th kills of the match put the lead back to seven. Thorne put the U.S. ahead 23-15 and a Tomkinson kill gave the U.S. match point at 24-16. Rogers ended the set for the third consecutive set, this time with a block.
