Arizona Storm 14 Thunder (Chandler, Ariz./Arizona Region) captured the 14 Open division June 29 by defeating TAV 14 Black (Carrolton, Texas/North Texas) in the final, 25-20, 25-13. Their only loss came in pool play to the Milwaukee Sting. Sting went to finish tied for third in the division.

Four other 14 champions won Tuesday, including Premier Nebraska 14 Gold (Omaha, Neb./Great Plains) in the National Division.

Premier (11-0) coach Ashley Martin said the team’s closeness helped them succeed.

“It’s just a really awesome group of girls,” Martin said. “The way that they mesh together; they always play for each other, and they really just love each other. I think it’s important how supportive they are. In the small moments and the big moments, everyone knew their role. Everybody understood that when their role is happening, then everybody else can be just as successful.”

949 G14 Black (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./SCVA) won the 14 American division with at 25-15, 25-11 win over SG Elite 14 Roshambo.

Viper 14-1 Leanna (Temecula, Calif./SCVA) won the 14 USA title by defeating Premier 14 Nike (Dallas, Texas/North Texas) 25-14, 25-19 in the final.

Local team Vegas Aces 14 (SCVA) thrilled the hometown crowd with a three-set victory over United 14 Miz, 25-21, 24-26 15-7 in the 14 Patriot final.

TAV Wins 12 National With Undefeated Record

Another three-set battle on championship court took place between perennial powerhouse clubs TAV and Tstreet in 12 National on Thursday. This time, Tav 12 Black emerged victorious, defeating Tstreet 12-Kaila (Irvine, Calif./SCVA), 25-10, 20-25, 15-9.

TAV head coach Josh McKinney said his team has improved all year. Their semifinal win over MadFrog 12 N Green was the first over their Texas rival this season.

“From the beginning to the end, their confidence has grown,” McKinney said. “I knew at the beginning we had the potential to do this, and it’s real cool to see them accomplish that goal.”

McKinney added that as part of a bet, he’s going to have to dye his beard blue and maybe shave his head.

“We’ll find out,” he laughed.

In 12 American, Texas Pistols 12 Black (Rhome, Texas/North Texas) defeated Flyers 12 APX-Jason (Frisco, Texas/North Texas), 25-16, 25-13.
