Colorado Springs, Colo. (June 13, 2024) – The U.S. Women’s Sitting Team guaranteed itself a spot in Sunday’s final match of the World ParaVolley Super 6 with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-7, 25-8) win over home team France on Friday.
The U.S. (4-0) will face China (3-1) in the gold-medal match. China secured its place with a 3-0 win over Italy on Friday. Before the final, the U.S. has one more round-robin match against Canada (currently 1-2) on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT.
Against France, coach Bill Hamiter used a new lineup, starting Lexi Shifflett-Patterson, Nicky Nieves, Whitney Dosty, Emma Schieck, MaKenzie Franklin, Tia Edwards and Sydney Satchell (libero).

The new lineup had no trouble with the less-experienced French team, pulling together strings of unanswered points in each set and notching 21 aces. The U.S. also led France in kills (25-2) and blocks (9-6).
Dosty scored five of her nine points on aces, adding four kills to the mix. Franklin and Edwards led the team in scoring with 10 points apiece; Franklin had a team-high six kills and four blocks, and Edwards had five kills, four aces and a block. Elam scored nine points in the second and third sets on four kills, two blocks and three aces.
Schieck had four aces, including two in a row late in set three; she added three kills. Setter Shifflett-Patterson had three points on three aces and helped the team to a .628 hitting percentage. Nieves scored seven points with three kills, two blocks and two aces. Satchell had solid game defensively at libero.
After the match, Shifflett-Patterson looked back on the match against China and the team’s outlook.
“It was an intense game last night,” she said. “We’re excited to be here and looking at a lot of different lineups this tournament.
